BALT – Business Action Learning Tasmania &

The Action Learning Institute – Australia

Business Action Learning Tasmania (BALT) Ltd is a registered Australian charity whose purpose is to advance education by delivering action learning programs in workplaces, education institutions and the community. BALT evolved from an inter-company action learning program facilitated by the Action Learning Institute in Tasmania in 2010. Senior management from the companies involved organised and established BALT to continue the learning in the region. Since then, eight programs involving 18 companies have been completed. Representatives from participating companies have played a leading role, with long-term support from the Tasmanian Government, through Skills Tasmania, the Workforce Development arm of the Department of State Growth. Since incorporation, BALT has been commissioned by the Tasmanian government to work with small to medium businesses, addressing ‘wicked problems’ such as regional employment growth and responses to climate change, and to develop a ‘whole of organisation’ approach to action learning.
